Cyrine, The Real Side Of Me.

The real name's Tracy.

I love myself and I love everybody who loves me. <3

Music has been my life ever since. I don't know, it's just that when I was a kid, my father used to play Beatles, U2, Air Supply, Richard Marx, Tears for Fears songs on our stereo and I guess I just grew out of it. That's why I cannot LIVE a day without hearing MUSIC. Seriously.

I totally love to read novels like that of Nora Roberts, Francine Pascal, Joanna Trollope and lots of others. I guess through reading books, I was inspired to the point that I begin to write my own stories and poems. <3

I also love acting and doing stage plays. Those were really my passion and it is where I can truly give my everything into that craft. But sadly, maybe it's not really my destiny to belong to the world of theater due to some certain decisions I've made for myself. But anyhow, I guess it's not bad to imagine things, right?

Overall, I just love every beautiful thing that I see around me. <3

And yeah, I've got some flaws too. But there is this one flaw that I can't still control even now.
You see, I'm nice to people who are nice to me. But I'm deadly to people who messes around with me. Yeah.

Ask me anything

I think I’m gonna like and love Arthur Auguste Angel, a First Upper Class Exorcist of the Vatican Headquarters! :) HEHE

Be happy! Smile! Don’t get discouraged by the mere fact that you’re bombarded with lot of things to do, your mind’s constantly stressed from all the thinking stuff, your happy hours with yourself have been replaced by STUDY hours, your bonding moments with friends have been replaced by cozy moments with the library tables and books and your SERENE TIME has been replaced by constant reminders of what you have to do and what you have to memorize. Yeah! A good way to SMILE EVERYDAY, isn’t it? :)

I don’t exactly know why I’m posting this stuff. I don’t know why but I just get the feeling of being old right now. OMG! OMG!

This is sooo OMG! I’m turning 20 *gasps!* this month and still here I am, feeling like a 12 year old girl. How can time fly so fast? I’m still not mature! Oh Time, please stop your ticking right now! HAHA

I wonder… I’ve heard some close friends advice a person with this statement, “You lived your whole 20 years life ALONE and now that you’ve found a boyfriend, you think your world is lifeless without him?” Hmmm… I’ve lived my twenty years of life without depending on a man except my Dad. I’ve lived my whole life without having to say, “I cannot live without him!”, “I want to spend the rest of my life with him!”, etc. Now that I’m turning 20 this month, will I still have the chance to say those words? Hmm… while thinking for a few minutes, I have an answer: “I really hope that I won’t get that chance. I’m happy being free! But if a guy comes in to my life and I fell inlove, I WON’T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO DO.”

MedRes Research.

Overview:

Of all the vehicles roaming around Libertad area in Bacolod City, no other mode of transportation has provided convenience to Bacolodnons. That’s why we will conduct a study that could identify the most common bacteria that usually inhabit public Utility Jeepneys passing UNO-R in Bacolod City.

Problem:

The common bacteria found in Public Utility Jeepneys passing University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos in Bacolod City.

Importance:

To prove if riding jeepneys is one of the factors that most people especially students and employees could easily acquire pathogens that cause illnesses. To give awareness to passengers as well as drivers about the presence of bacteria found in jeepneys and ways to protect themselves from these bacteria.

Limitations:

This study will only focus on the Public Utility Jeepneys passing UNO-R in Bacolod city. Samples only from passenger grab railings will be taken for culture and testing. Only samples that are feasible enough for research will be subjected to culture and testing. We’re also taking into consideration that not all passengers riding jeepneys touch any of the said sample areas, thus, not all those who ride jeepneys are sources of pathogenic microbes or are infected.  Also, we will only be taking samples during the peak hours like lunch time so that there will be a good chance for many samples since there will be many passengers during that time.

Objectives:

This study aims to:

1.)    To identify the most common bacteria found on passenger grab rails in public utility jeepneys passing UNO-R in Bacolod City.

2.)    To give awareness to the public about the possible health risks that can be acquired from riding jeepneys.

3.)    To establish baseline data for further studies on the public transportation in Bacolod City.

Theoretical Background:

As students in a medical field, we are very much aware of the different microbes that inhabit our surroundings and due to this awareness, we thought of the idea that the occurrences of diseases within the city may have been caused by some of the microbes that can be possibly found in our public transportation particularly in jeepneys that are the main means of transportation in our area. We also want to find out the pathogenic microbes that inhabit passenger railings of jeepneys. This just proves it through articles that we have read which all gave us the basis of our study. We are also hopeful that we can give awareness to the citizens of Bacolod. This can also help them develop ways on how to prevent the outbreaks of common and deadly diseases and for them to be aware that we have invisible passengers riding with us so proper sanitation is important.

The following are the articles that serve as our basis for this research:

In a recent study, British microbiologists randomly tested both the interiors and trunks of 25 cars and found that the typical automobile had, on average, 285 types of bacteria. Ten or so were identified as major types of bacteria.

Researchers found the stick shift, harboured the most germs overall, although they had guessed it would be the steering wheel.

An American study by Gerba and a colleague, in 2006, found the dashboard to be one of the most germ-laden locations in 100 tested vehicles.

Lastly, the trunk carpet houses some of the nastiest of bacteria, where scientist found 300 to 400 types of bacteria. Interestingly, researchers note the diversity of activities people use their car trunk for – one day to dump trash, while the next to carry groceries and usually not disinfecting in between, making the car even more susceptible to a variety of bacteria.”

The seats of some well used methods of public transportation have been analyzed by a biologist and the results might keep commuters on their feet.

A supervisor with San Francisco State University’s biology lab recently tested the bacterial content of a random BART seat and a Muni seat. The Bay Citizen commissioned the study.

On Muni’s plastic seats she found two forms of harmless bacteria, and after using an alcohol wipe on the seat no bacteria was detected. Tests of the seats on BART revealed fecal and skin borne bacteria that were also resistant to antibiotics.

The test also found at least nine different strains of bacteria and several types of mold on the seat.

And even after the cushion was cleaned with an alcohol wipe strains of harmful bacteria were still present.”

“The report, by Tesco, shows steering wheels average 41,600 bacteria - compared with only 17,400 for the loo. “This proves how easily germs are passed on,” said Tesco’s Daniel Kyle.”

Avoiding Germs on Public Transportation

1. Go to the ends of the trains.

Fewer people = fewer germs running around. Avoid the middle where commuters are packed in like sardines.

2. Leave the abandoned newspaper alone.

Sure, you’re bored. Someone’s left a perfectly good copy of the daily paper on the seat. They’ve also left a perfectly good coating of their cooties all over it when they sneezed into it. Try meditating instead.

3. Don’t touch anything.

Don’t grab the handrails. Don’t touch the seat. They’re filthy. Try to adopt a stable stance to keep yourself steady while the train accelerates and decelerates. Or lean against the vertical rails, the edge of a seat, or even against the doors that won’t be opening.

4. If it stinks, keep moving.

BART, especially off-hours, always seems to attract the odd homeless guy that’s clearly Patient Zero for the next plague. If you somehow miss his sneezing and coughing directly into the air, you’ll find his stench unmistakeable. Hold your breath and keep walking into the next car.

5. Pick the darker, emptier cabins.

Some subway cars are darker than others, and people seem to avoid them. Bacteria and viruses go where their vectors go, so I suggest going to the relatively lonely cars, even if they’re a bit dim.

6. If you touched something, hands out of the pockets.

If the car you’re in lurches forward, and you have to grab onto a handrail or else get WAY too intimate with the guy sitting next to you, then don’t put your hands back into your pockets. You’ll line your pockets and anything in them (like your keys, phone, wallet and other things you’ll be touching again later) with noxious bacteria. Keep them out until you can wash your hands.

7. Wash your hands when you get to your destination.

Get some soap (doesn’t have to be antibacterial), and lather up.

8. Move away from the coughers and hold your breath.

If you’re stuck in close quarters with someone that sounds like he’s contracted a tuberculosis-bubonic plague hybrid and begins coughing and/or sneezing, hold your breath and move far away. Don’t worry about offending him. He’d do the same if you were Typhoid Mary.

9. Avoid children.

Ever wonder why teachers and parents are sick more often than the rest of us? The inventor of Airborne was a teacher sick and tired of being…sick and tired. Kids haven’t usually learned to cover up their noses and mouths when they cough and sneeze. They launch their germ spray right into the cabin. Love them and leave them alone.

10. Avoid your cell phone.

Thanks to the constant heat and intermittent moisture from your breath, it’s a lush, tropical paradise for pathogens. Sanitize it often or avoid using it when your immune system is battling against germs underground.
